This is so beautiful. I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes reading this. My youngest daughter decided to drop out of school and get her GED last year, I hope one day she finds some sense of purpose to hold onto as you seem to have found.

Such an inspiring story, thank you for sharing it ! I unfortunately experienced homelessness as a single mother during the 9 months I was pregnant with my son, some 8 years ago now. I recently went back to school at my local community college to finish my associates degree in liberal arts. I was planning to transfer to my nearest state school at UMass Amherst to pursue a dual degree in sociology and public policy, however ever since UMass declared that they would suspend/unenroll any student for participating in anti-colonialist/imperialist/fascist resistance protests, I have decided they do not deserve my hard earned $$. I am currently on the lookout for other schools that support the right to free speech, autonomy, democracy, and people over profits. They seem to be few and far between. Have any suggestions Dr. Lester ? I hope to pursue law school someday and work in law reform with regards to gender based violence and child protection in the family court (especially), or as a legal aid attorney for low income single mothers, or as a juvenile justice defense attorney, God willing 🙏🏼 Your story is so personally inspiring to me, and I am so thrilled to have found your Substack ! God bless you and your beautiful family 🥰🙏🏼
